But without withdrawing few stoppages(particularly in Kerala & especially in TVC - CAPE stretch), speeding up the train is next to impossible.

No need of removing stops, Once track renewal and doubling is done Sufficient speeding up will be done I guess.
Island caters as both Overnight and an Intercity for many stations.

Speed up at present is Impossible as all trains are getting delayed in Kerala. Especially trains outbound from places like Trivandrum and Kanyakumari.

Highly impossible to remove stoppages in KL. Unnecessarily passenger associations start their protest evven though some stations have only few people boarding !!. There are so many stretches which have been doubled between ERN-TVC stretch but have had no impact on the running time of this train. The only best part is its running time from SBC till ERN (16526) which is as good as other superfast trains . In the return direction (TVC-SBC), train is delayed regularly. The figures below shown is the delay for last 7 days
