Only detour line is electrified. Straight line was not electrified due to objections from INS Rajali. Straight line will not be electrified forever. So this line will be as diesel line forever. Whole Chennai division is electrified except Arakkonam - Takkolam straight line. So mostly Chennai division might not invest on diesel locos for such a small section. Hence they might either dismantle it or abandon it as already all trains of this section have been diverted permanently via detour line
