Presenting some pictures of Ranchi railway station, from my recent trip to Ranchi. I took the Howrah-Hatia Express that has a RSA with an old flame of mine:p, the Howrah-Nampally East coast Express.
The train departed that day an hour later than it's otherwise scheduled departure timing. My coach was 89 made special NR's DLI CDO based coach. I do not know about you guys but I consider the Hatia CDO as an unofficial museum of sorts, the sheer number of old coaches they have and use in their train rakes is both unnerving and disturbing. hands and twitted about the problem to the 'Indian Rail Seva'. Unsurprisingly the AC started functioning a lot better and a AC attendant even checked up with me at TATA. The negligence of the attendants were a bit disappointing and this is primarily the reason why normal passengers who are not privy to twitter have such bitter experiences to complain about the railway services.
I overslept a bit and had to awoken by a fellow passenger at RNC. The train halted at RNC for around 20 odd minutes before proceeding towards HTE.
In the meanwhile it was Xed by the HTE-BWN MEMU. I once had a friend who took to train from DGR to RNC as a wager for a bid against me. In spite of my best attempts to discourage him he took it and though he was victorious in the bet, the sheer memory of that attempt still gives him shivers. I remember him telephoning me and complaining that why donot they declare the train as three different train between BWN-DHN,DHN-GMO and GMO-HTE respectively, the elaborate halt duration of this train at DHN & GMO being his primary source of complaint.
I had planned to right a travelogue but given shortage of time that has become a regularity in my life now, I had to sum up my journey in an untidy amalgamation of words. I promise to write about my experiences in a more detailed manner soon....

Last bar toh ranchi ko 2 train, tata ko 1 train, madhupur ko 1 train toh mila tha...but is bar state election hai toh new trains milega.

Only 1 train has been really beneficial, The HTE-BNC Express.
The AC Express is not really beneficial, for the bus mafia rules the roost and the train is a weekly affair and that too is incredibly slow.
An Antodaya for a city like TATA is a cruel joke, cities like TATA, DHN, BKSC all have a higher percentage of reserved passengers than unreserved passengers.

JSME and Santhal Pargana, Dubeyji played a cruel joke. He should have got the JSME-ANVT Express regularized, instead he went for glory and went after 12273 and 12301, because hey diversion of a Duronto would fetch more news and publicity for him. 12273 got royally screwed up, and the MDP-ANVT was also introduced for publicity purposes. Suffice to say, it's response has been totally lukewarm.

But sir apart from these Ranchi-Ara exp getting good response, Ranchi-Patna AC exp also introduced, Tatanagar-Badampahar DEMU got introduced, Asansol-Chennai extended to Jasidih, Agartala-Jasidih exp introduced, Madhupur-Anand Vihar Humsafar also Introduced.

1. RNC ARA Express was a 2 decade long demand for trains to BXR,ARA that got fulfilled.
2. RNC-PNBE AC express clarity already provided.
3. How many DEMUs can you count similarly for the neighboring states, you can't? Inspite of accounting for population disparity train representation for jharkhand is abysmal.
4. More of a ASN's loss than JSME's gain. ASN lost a genuine good
