Never purchase e-ticket from unauthorised agents or persons,using their personal IDs for commercial purposes. Such tickets are liable to be forfeited under section(143) of the Indian Railway Act 1989 . List of authorised agents are available on www.irctc.com >E-Ticket Agent Locator.

If an eticket is booked by colleague, friends or relatives's personal id. Whether it will be not valid. If any person is not computer savvy where he will go ?
See, there are people who are misusing and 'genuine' customers. From 2004 till 2011, my wife and I had used the same email id for the two accounts. One of them got frozen and when we had to re-activate the account, we had to answer a couple of questions about the two accounts. We were given the benefit of doubt and we are still using both the accounts.
In case of their getting suspicious they can always take a booked tickets list in the accounts and check how many tickets are booked, with what names etc...But this is complicated and may not happen, unless the IP addresses are the same with an Agents. So if one agent is using one IP address,...

no problem at all...when i contacted irctc about this they said u can book for any known people...so no isuues sir,...
the agent can browse from cyber cafe also where may be 20 more people are booking....so are all they suspicious..???NO....there is ansolutely less ways of detection...
