At present connectivity from Coastal Karnataka to the top most border of Karnataka ime Bidar is completely cut off and this train provides direct access from Mangalore to Bidar via the newly opened Kotturu Hosapete line and also connects Mangalore and Bidar/Kalaburgi to Bijapur and Bagalkot.
