For someone planning to go to Goa for a holiday from Bangalore, 17309/07309 do not have good timings at all - leave Bangalore too early (requiring leave from office/missing some time at school or college) and gets into Goa way too early to check in to most hotels. The new special is far better timed that way. 17311 is probably the most convenient.
In the return direction, both 07310 and the special reach Bangalore a little too late to conveniently attend school/work the same morning. Here too 17312 is better timed.
