Even I feel this new line will not be useful/helpful now at the cost of so much forest land. As you mentioned, now doubling is in good progress from Clr to Mao followed by electrification, It will give faster access, once that is done, what SWR can do is to build a by-pass line at Mao outer, which can be used by Freights to go Belekeri port in Karwar.
