I want to travel from Chennai to Calicut. I have a CC ticket from Chennai to Coimbatore. I will be travelling in unreserved coach from Coimbatore to calicut. Since I don't have time to buy tickets and change trains, is it possible to buy my unreserved tickets for Coimbatore to Calicut in Chennai itself? (Rs. 27)
Or is it a wise idea to get Chennai - Calicut unreserved tickets from Chennai? (Rs. 132)

just now tried to purchase an unreserved ticket from malda town to sahibganj from howrah jn at two different counters. Failed. Reason given- currently no such rules exist :(

Thanks for the reply and sorry that I couldn't respond immediately. I had been denied a ticket from Coimbatore to Calicut from Chennai. I took AC duronto from Chennai to Coimbatore and (arr. 1355) and then Coimbatore - Kannur Fast passenger (dep. 1410).
Finally I had to buy a ticket from Chennai to Calicut (Rs. 150) as I didn't want to miss my next train. Thank you all. Thanks IRI.
