and is situated between Beas Junction and Jalandhar City Junction.
Beas is a small town in the Amritsar District of Punjab state of India, located between the cities of Amritsar (42 km) and Jalandhar (35 km) along the banks of the Beas River on National Highway 1. Five miles to the east, there is a small town called 'Dera Baba Jaimal Singh' PIN (ZIP) 143204, originally founded by the spiritual mystic, Baba Jaimal Singh, as his 'dera' or farm house, and who knew it was going to grow. It is today, as then, the headquarters of Radha Soami Satsang Beas. Every year, millions of Radha Soami followers travel to Beas to attend satsangs (discourses) often held at the Dera for weeks at a time. The number of sangat (devotees) present on these days reaches several hundred thousands on the days of the Satsangs. Beas is also famous for the Radhasoami Charitable Hospital, which was constructed in the 80s by the Radhasoami Society. Since its inauguration, it has served countless patients. Annual optometry clinics are held at the hospital where hundreds of patients with eye-related problems, especially those suffering from cataracts, are treated.
