Instead of extension, better speed up this train. In many stretches, it crawls. Better to start from both ends by morning 0700 and reach destination by next day noon. 28-29 hour journey

Speed up was proposed. In the stretch between Pune-Miraj, there are lots of stretches where CR prioritises other trains. Few Passenger associations had got a reply from CR on the same in this regard when the demand for speed up was made. From Miraj to MAO, SWR had its own set of issues in receiving this train earlier....

I think in one year probably 2020, extension was proposed for Pune ERS weekly till Kollam which was rejected saying that Kollam does not have adequate facilities for watering etc. In the next year proposal ws sent for the biweekly Pune -ERS express which reaches ERS at 8pm. That proposal was rejected as it would have reached Kollam at odd hours and the return dep would have been around 2am which was also very odd. Looking at the timings most likely the weekly Pune ERS ( via Belgaum) is likely to get extended in future
