You may be right and wrong. Previous to last Saturday, 6th Nov., India recorded highest ever number of air travelers. That means people paid up to or above 4 times normal fare.

railways lags is marketing. That being a govt. organization unable to raise fares, private operators can do. They can earn better where railways' premium tatkal fails. Railways' passenger turn to flight at certain premium rate. Including me.
