Suppose a person took general ticket and got it upgraded to say 2-AC by excess fare to TTE and his name is entered manually in the chart.
So if some other TTE with the chart comes or just say in surprise checking happens.The person concerned is asked for ticket and he shows it.
Is it that the TTE can ask for ID proof to him or not?

Rule says tickets manually upgraded and auto upgraded from Non AC Class to AC Class do not require to produce ID Cards.
Current Reservation is same as Computerized Reservation Counter. Only difference is that in former tickets are booked after chart preparation.

current reservation is of two types.
1.issued from special reservation counters. Just like prs tickets. You fill in resvn form and present it across the counter. Clerk feeds in name,age,sex. Copy to tte. Tte verifies it onboard with your id card. Applicable for all trains except those mentioned below. No id cards for sleepers. Id card reqd for ac class
2.issued from all unreserved counters. Just like normal unreserved ticket but fare is that of reserved. Issued for trains like jan shatabdi, double decker(hwh dhn dd). You pay the money,get the ticket. No...

Well, carrying an ID may become a norm very soon for all classes of travel, so it is always better, at least in the general sense, to carry one at all times.
Yes. With increase in security and norms laid down by IR, it is always better to carry an ID Card irrespective of which mode of ticket or which class you are traveling by.
