A question may arise in anybody's mind that why put in so much efforts behind a DEMU when electrification in that area is near completion ? If we minutely observe, every DEMU rake in Kashmir valley is fitted with HOG couplers which will facilitate the future usage of a HOG capable loco to power the DEMU rakes. In such scenario, the DEMU motor cars will be non-functional & simply serve as a normal carriage.
