I have seen the entire book, no mention of CIC section, maybe it doesn’t have schedules of all the routes

I used to collect railway time tables (the zonal ones as well as Trains at a Glance). Mid 70s through late 80s have some of my best memories. My time table collection went back to long before I was born: 1969, thanks to my dad. Back then, Gitanjali's predecessor was an AC Express. Mail had far fewer stops than it does today (Sakti, Kharsia, Bhatapara, Tumsar Rd in SECR, back then SER, were added).

My dad's elder brother was railway traffic controller based in Dhanbad back then, I recall having plenty of

conversations and visits to his office when visiting.

Interestingly enough, Asansol-Dhanbad section was quicker than it is today (I traveled a lot on Coal Field and Black Diamond Express between HWH and DHN, the only way to get to DHN from Raipur at the time). Coal Field Express ran on a screaming little Japanese electric locomotive... I wonder what happened to those.

Really nice to see that you are also interested in collecting old archives of railways.
Thanks a lot for sharing so valuable information about Railway history.
About Asansol Dhanbad section I agree that it was way faster than it is today. I will also be uploading the timetable of trains of this section very soon.

In 1960s-1970s circa the entire DHN Division of today was in ASN Division. Also DDU Division was in ASN Division, thus there were no slacks added. Thus it felt quicker, even upto 2000s when DHN was in ER slacks were not present.
It was only when ECR was formed, time tables started getting more slacks.
Also nowadays more and more PSRs are being added as there is huge illegal mining going on close to the tracks.
