station by 22:30, as weather was not good. I sat on a bench on pf no. 1, put my earphones and start waiting for my train or you may say doing my best time pass,” train spotting”.
TIME 22:30 – 22:37
I encountered with Sabri express to HYB, came on pf no.3 with wap 4 loco in-charge, there was a mad rush for unreserved coaches. Full chaos on pf no. 3, women with children trying to board the train, which was already crossed its limit, people are hanging on the doors, no way to go-in or out, meanwhile, loco pilot honks horn and train starts slowly, leaving behind some people who are unable to board unreserved compartments. At same time from AJJ side, twin WAG7 (in WAP4 shell) of ludhiana shed with CONCAR came with good speed, first i thought it’s not going to stop here but made a halt with grinding sound. After 2 mins MAS-Mangalore mail came with RPM WAP4 on pf no.1, with dirty looking coaches and overtook CONCAR.
TIME 22:37 – 22:40
Light gone!!! Full black out at station, LED coach positioning indicators and announcement speakers were only alive. Power back within 30 sec. Meanwhile, AJJ KPD pass arrives on pf no.2 with WAM4 of AJJ shed.
TIME 22:40 – 23:10
Reversal of AJJ WAM 4 of KPD – AJJ passenger and attachment of WAMie to other end for its early morning return journey to AJJ at 4:00 hrs, pantograph down, WAMie sleeps with its trailing coaches on pf no. 2, good night WAMie! After 5 mins MAS-ALLEPPY express came on pf no.1 with ED WAP4 in power and departs after 2 min halt. Announcements of Nilgiri Express and Kerala Express echoed in silent dark raining night.
TIME 23:10 – 23:30
Nilgiri Express with ED WAP 4, came on pf no.1 after taking God’s shower. Coaches were neat and clean with CBC fittings. Announcement for NDLS-TVC Kerala express, will shortly coming on pf no.3
TIME 23:30 – 23:40
Kerala Express arrived on pf no.3, announcement for Kaveri Express was made, will come on pf no.1. Rain starts with lightning and thunder. “Bhagwan bhi bol rahe honge ki aaj kuch toofani karte hai” :D
23:46 – 00:10
Kaveri Express came with WAP4 of RPM shed, coaches were CBC fitted. I boarded the train, locate my berth. After a 2 min halt train starts with infamous CBC’s jerking. Coaches were new, One occupant per berth in my coach, whole light were switched off except only door lights and basin lights, berth indicators were blinking, windows were shutdown, fans were running fast, all co-passenger sleeping as they have to extract each and every penny of their ticket :P and a nocturnal railfan was doing doorplating. After some time i feel, it’s not a good idea to do doorplating on CBC fitted rake plus on rainy night. Climbed to my SUB no.16 and trying to fall asleep. Meanwhile, TTE came and check my ticket. I can feel the acceleration of WAPie and vigorous jerks of CBCs.

SLEEP...JERKS....SLEEP...VIGOROUS JERKS...WAKE-UP.......SLEEP...CHAI-CHAI(tea)SOUND...WAKE-UP...LIGHTS ON-OFF...SLEEP... SLEEP...JERKS....SLEEP...VIGOROUS JERKS....WAKE UP!
03:45 – 04:30
Wake up with a vigorous jerk as train starts from KJM outer, get down from my berth, brush my teeth and sit-down on lower berth, an elderly couples was sitting in front of me, gentle man told me that something wrong with the coach. As I am a railfan it was my duty to unrevealed the truth about ‘jerks’, i started my lecture on CBCs coaches. Gentleman seems, as i am talking about some ‘rocket science’ or I’m crazy or both!. They deboarded at cantt. And half of the coach was empty along with them, after halting 5 min, trains moves towards SBC and reached at 4:30 am, 20 min behind schedule, my coach was fully emptied at SBC. I deboarded and heads towads KBS, took 45D to home.
