The Panvel route is slightly faster despite being longer. 22150 PUNE-ERS SF express goes via the Panvel route and takes less time from Pune to Madgaon than both Poorna express and Goa express, which take the Miraj/Londa route.
In the opposite direction, 22149 ERS-PUNE SF is slower only during the monsoon time-table, during non-monsoons it’s duration is same as Goa express, and a bit faster than Poorna express.

I checked the layover time at Pune for this train, it’s about 29.5 hrs.
If extended to MAO, approx travel duration between PUNE and MAO should be around 11-12 hrs in each direction. So the train will get only 5-7 hrs of layover at MAO, would that be too less for a train that has just covered a distance of 2600+ km? I know that only SM would be done at MAO, but still 5-7 hrs layover seems rather short.

Yes if CSMT Duronto is extended then the layover time should be sufficient, and will be more efficient distance-wise. But the news I read some months back and the original post on this thread were concerning Pune Duronto.
