A junction is a location where two lines diverge. Since NR and NER lines diverge in other directions here, doesn't that technically make this a junction?

Vasai Road is another example. It's clearly a junction with lines leading to BCT/BDTS, Udhna Jn and KYN/PNVL.

So you're saying that earlier both MG & BG lines ran next to each other from Barabanki to Malhaur?

even Manak Nagar (MKG) doesnt qualify to be junction for similar reasons.
.
i refer to say earlier, MKG was parallel MG BG station where MG use to lead LJN&ASH and LKO use to lead to LKO NR.
.
infact
...
entire CNB LKO section was parallel MG BG until converted into double BG in early 1990s. MG under LJN NER and BG under LKO NR.
