OK ! where majority of mumbai and pune lives .. does this area fall in Rail preferring zone ?
All parts of city and its suburbs are full of people. Isi ka naam Mumbai hai :D
Delhi NCR is a bigger UA than Mumbai... But premium TT has so far edge over Bus and Car travel over major axial routes.. be it Jaipur , Agra , LKNW , Chandigarh , Jammu or Ludhiana (except for DDN) !
People from GGN , Dwarka and West Delhi has little difficulty in catching trains from Anandvihar.. vice versa for the people of Noida , GZB to catch train from DEC or Bijwasan... but so far.. we have managed to find near by stations to catch these trains.. .people are still preffering Shatabdis and VBs... over Cars on many instances..

Train connectivity in Mumbai is way better than train connectivity in NCR. The road infra is way better in NCR than in Mumbai region. So people find it easy to get into train that buses and cars. People from Navi Mumbai, North West Mumbai, Non-Core Pimpri Chinchwad, South and West Pune prefers car/bus than trains. Rest prefers trains.
Good timings but I think travel time can be reduced to 6 hours.
Also, another good slot for Mumbai - Pune - Solapur travel would be to start from CSMT between Deccan Express and Koyna Exp [i.e. between 7 to 8:30AM] since there is no intercity train to Pune in this time interval. Return journey can start from Solapur around 4:30PM to reach Pune at around 7:30PM and Mumbai at 10:30PM. Again there is no intercity train available after 6:30PM from Pune towards Mumbai
