One of the main stations lying in the heart of Lucknow, most trains going via NER route stop here. Trains like GKP and ASH bound ICE empty here usually. The doubling process is completed and platform second is fully operational now [trains used to come on platform one as far as possible until last month].
I would call this station the most important station in the NER region of Lucknow, more important than Gomti Nagar and Aishabagh, just based on it's region and patronage it provides and the deboarding that happens here.
Gomti Nagar is skipped by more trains and is kinda developed as a terminal station for some trains. Aishbagh, trains stop as an alternative to LJN where they used to previously go. But yes, most passengers prefer this station over other stations in Lucknow. There is a reason why it is connected via metro and Aishbagh/Gomti Nagar aren't.
