गलती सरकार की है क्योंकि रेलवे सरकार के अंतर्गत आता है।

लेकिन जोन के जीएम, डिवीजन के डीआरएम, सेक्शन इंजीनियर, सिग्नल विभाग, मरम्मत विभाग ये सब भी दोषी है। इनकी भी जिम्मेदारी बनती है देख रेख करने की।

जहां तक खाली पदों की की जाए तो इसके लिए वो सभी लोग दोषी है जो किराया बढ़ाने का या अधिक मालगाड़ियां चलाने का विरोध करते है पुरानी पेंशन लागू करवाने की मांग करते है।

वर्तमान कर्मचारियों को तो रेलवे वेतन और पेंशन बड़ी मुश्किल से दे पा रहा है, अगर किराया नहीं बढ़ाया गया तो और भी पद खाली होंगे

There was a story about automatic boom barrier at level crossing that was faulty and required some workaround (jugaad). Could that have caused the accident, I can't understand how?

Does anyone have details ?

There are two things which might have occurred regarding the boom barrier. The wiring is tied to the wiring of the interlocking system. So they may have swapped cables (yes, often the cables are just incorrectly /confusingly labelled and it's very easy for someone to inadvertently swap them), resulting in the interlocking system thinking that the point is set of main line when in reality it is set for the loop. But there's another thing which would have happened. When the boom barrier work is going on, trains would get a red signal, which is the failsafe system. Now it could be that the work was going on late and so someone decided to override the system to show a green light for the oncoming train. But forgot to change the points to the main line from loop.

Is there a need for linking boom barrier with the signals ? Right-of-way is for railways, and we know how unruly is the road side crowd .. they often create a jam on the middle of the tracks as soon as the gate opens. If boom barrier fails, then a big bright road signal needs to be put in place.

Besides, this design gives an incentive to local road side crowd to tamper with the barrier (you may have seen such arrangements on highway toll plaza). If they know that train signal
