badrinarayanand 276 blog postsThis is the only Rajdhani from a metro city which is a biweekly. All other Rajdhanis are daily train. Mumbai (3), Calcutta (2) and Bangalore(1).
Is the patronage not that good for this train as it leaves very early from Chennai or air fares are competitive for this route.

All reasons have there own impact.
Patronage can also be an issue but departure time is root cause of this problem.

This train is a classic example of poor planning involving TT, fare, etc. Railway did not bother to rectify the anamoly. Since it is not willing to rectify the problem why not convert into ordinary train? At least masses will benefit and it will not remain white elephant. Somebody commented even Delhi - Chennai Duronto is running bad. When Tamilnadu exp was introduced in 1970s we were made to believe it is the fastest from here which later on turned to be false too. Clear case of railways taking TN state for granted !
