We needn't blindly compete with developed countries in every single aspect, the average Indian man can't afford to travel in AC classes unlike the average French or Japanese. We must focus on competing with developed countries where it benefits the average person without them having to pay significantly higher fare for an AC ticket. Eg. punctuality, maintenance and safety. IMO rake standardization isn't necessary to achieve any of those goals.
Improving the standard of train services doesn't justify pricing out the majority of passengers who rely on trains as their only affordable...
