Home to pivotal railway stations including Mangaluru Central and Mangaluru Junction, alongside others like Tokkottu and Ullal, the latter being somewhat distant from the city center, Mangaluru Central serves as the primary railhead. Remarkably, while positioned in Karnataka, it caters predominantly to trains bound for Kerala and Tamil Nadu, with a noticeable imbalance in favor of these states over local and Konkan routes.
