Nowadays the safety of Chennai EMU locals were being going down. One of the most important thing being discussed here is many college students in Chennai (I am not generalizing anyone) especially Arts college students looking like rowdies creating ruckus inside EMU locals everyday. They use to form in groups, hell noise shouting, singing abusive songs in local slum language and use to tap the metal walls of the train and creating hell of noises. They even have a small knife too and risk of being attacked when anyone questions them. Eventhough if we complain to RPF secretly, they are getting alert and they are exiting in a small halt stations(where ticket checking or RPF won't be there in regular intervals) before the train reaches major station. Rowdy boys are found in buses also. You can particularly see them in buses from Perambur to Anna square and Avadi to Anna square. Like New York's East Harlem or London's Islington Chennai also has ghettos which are famous for crime like Pulianthope, Vyasarpadi, Korukkupet, Choolaimedu, Saidapet, etc. Some of these boys also indulge in chain snatching or phone snatching in slowing down train or standing train near Basin bridge.
In Chennai locals it is very common. As said by Sekhar sir, it is 100% true, everyday commuters are facing this problem, these people cannot be eliminated until government takes action against these types of activities.
Yesterday, at Perambur station, one rowdy guy got injured by falling down from train when he was standing near the gate of the train. It is high time RB must introduce EMU locals similar like found in Metro trains with Automated door opening and closing and AC coaches as Chennai is so hot always. Air Conditioned EMU were running in Mumbai region.
Is these activities quite common or from the time govt changed?
Seeing these activities since my childhood sir. I am living in Chennai since 20 years.
