If the train is diverted via Perambur - it will be earlier arrival at NZM - Like if it leaves CBE at 16:15 PM and can arrive MAS at 23:35 PM and to leave MAS at 23:50 PM and can follow TN and reach NZM at 09:00 AM.
This would save 5 hours of travel time. Return could leave NDLS at 23:45 PM and can reach MAS at 09:00 AM to reach CBE at 16:30 PM

Wow is it ? Never knew that ! I know it used to run via SA, Omalur, Hosur , PR route ! Then they changed it post covid via tirupattur considering the MPS section
Kerala used to run via RU, Melpakkam Bypass (AJJ) , Katpadi route and TVC rajdhani goes to MAS to have loco reversal to proceed to TVC later Kerala changed via TPT after guage conversion and TVC raj via Konkan after konkan opened
It used to run via Renigunta VjA. Later on request on kongunadu people due to less trains its diverted to run via Benguluru and Hyderabad. Now they are alternatives they can divert, reduce travel time and increase frequency to triweekly.
Going via perambur makes more sense, Train can leave at 16:00 arrive PER at 23:40 PM , follow TN to reach NZM around 09:50 AM , return could leave at 23:30 , arrive PER at 09:00 AM third day and reach 17:00 PM
Will increase patronage and save lot of hours with MPS
