As Mangaluru Jn (Kankanadi) - Mumbai CSMT is one of the faster and major trains catering the DK, Udupi and UK districts of Karnataka and Goa (collectively konkan) to Mumbai CSMT, it is not being reliable, since having a less turn around time at Mangaluru end, if the train from CSMT towards Mangaluru is delayed, the return is also proportionally delayed.

that Mysuru is not having a daily connection to Goa, ratnagiri and mumbai, only one weekly train i.e, sharavathi express is connecting both the cities directly as of now.
If one extra rake is alloted for this train, it can be extended via Bisle Ghats, providing mumbai connection to Hassan and Mysuru districts also. Though this route is not a faster option for mysuru but it will be a good option for extension. Turn around time is also comparatively low and less chances of return run to get delayed.
Already occupancy being good, this will further give very good occupancy atleast in the aspect of tourism.
