Could a VB service run b/w LJN and KGM? It can have stoppages at BE and Haldwani in between. Could make for a good day time alternative as an 8 coacher. Only 1 overnighter runs on this route currently.
IR has proposed several VB options on the same route .. MB-LKO section..

Tankanpur should get an overnight service to Delhi, IMO, first. It has a passenger service to Delhi in the form of 'Jan Shatabdi' [ possibly the slowest Jan Shatabdi in India with average of ~40 kph] in the morning. Either case, a VB would be tons faster than this crawler.
I don’t understand the need for an overnight train on a 300 km odd route ..

Neither do I. The LJN-KGM has a comparatively small rake and is not daily which suggests relatively low demand. A proper ICE could be run compared to this. After all, a longer ICE runs b/w Lucknow and Meerut. They might as well run between Lucknow and Kathgodam.
