I never went to south in rail but i though smvt is terminal station where as ksr lies on main line That reason may be
yes thats true.. due to Pitline Upgradation works in Mysuru this train is currently short terminating at SMVB, once all the works are done, the train will be extended down to MYS and diverted via SBC JTJ Route
No SMVT is not a terminal central station, There is still a way from Mysore to SMVT to Chennai via KSR bengaluru, yesvantpur, Lotte, Banswadi , SMVT , Baiyappanahalli but its going to have speed restriction. Thank you
