But now, the situation is a mess. Is the government messing up to benefit private flights? Look at the data - there are way more flights from Kolkata to Mumbai now, with more passengers. Trains are such a mess that people are switching to flights! Where did the money for developing the Howrah-Mumbai route go? If it really went to development, trains would be on time, faster, and the journey would be smooth. But no, nothing like that happened in 5 years. Did corruption eat up the money? Since there's no railway budget now, it's obvious the money wasn't spent on development. The poor punctuality of trains between Howrah and Mumbai/Pune/Ahmedabad proves 1000% that money wasn't spent on development.
