I would like to see Electronic Checking of reserved tickets in trains in the near future. This could be done as all systems are viable and set up for the Railways.
The TTE instead of having to check tickets manually using printed charts can do so with a handheld device. The tickets can have barcodes which can easily be scanned by the handheld scanner. For SMS based tickets the PNR or the Transaction ID could be entered in the device. The device could ideally be connected to the main reservation server or can be later docked to upload the data manually.

This is a great suggestion Mr. Garhwal. The use of barcode would surely stop transfer of tickets which has lately come to a pause by the new rule of ID cards for SL class.
But lastly, it all depends on the viability of railways for the project. TTe's would try desperately to avoid such devices as many of them are involved in corrupt practices.
