The Northeast Frontier Railway has since revoked the 'TA-912' memo, requiring the implementation of the absolute block system, a safer approach where only one train is allowed to operate in a section at a time. Despite this, the Rangapani station master failed to follow the absolute block system and allowed the goods train to proceed before the Kanchenjunga train had reached the next station (Chatar).
