The traffickers, two from Samastipur, and one each from Araria and Purnea, were apprehended by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) after the minors revealed they were being forced to work in Ambala and Bengaluru. The initial investigation led to an FIR being registered at Muzaffarpur Railway Police Station based on the RPF Daroga's statement.
