when did Indian trains change colour from brown color to the current Dark Blue + Light Blue?
In the 80s, most trains apart from Rajdhani and Jammu Tavi had different colors. All the rest had chocolate colored rakes.

The 'chocolate' hue AMPLIFIED the thought of RUST,which the BLUE isn't concealing too well either.
Rail Minister Mr. Lalu Prasad Jadav decided to change this color. In his time slowly introduced the light blue color.
True sir. Earlier, except for a few prestigious trains, all the other coaches were maroon liveried (vaccuum brakes). Then, during late 1990s and early 200s, air brake coaches started entering with this new scheme. There were many trains running with mixed coaches.
DHN-ALLP Exp was the last Express train to have maroon liveried coaches till 2003-04.
