I don’t know but many people wrote in this forum that chargeable distance is 40% more than real distance in Konkan Railway. If it is true I’ve calculated distance b2wn a)Ratnagiri & Kudal b)Swantwadi Road & Thivim c)Thivim & Karmali.In this way:
If real distance is 100km then extra distance added for chargeable distance to real distance is 40km.
So, Total chargable distance=(100+40)km=140km.
If chargable distance is 140km, then real distance is 100km.
If chargable distance is 1km, then real distance is (100/140)km.
If chargable distance is x km, then real distance is x(100/140)km.
value of x = real distance but...
Distance from Mumbai CST of other stations b2wn Chiplun (including) to Kankandi(including) is taken from an old TRAINS AT A GLANCE .
Chargeable distance b2wn Panvel and Chiplun and b2wn Surathkal & Kankandi can’t be calculated in this way because two end points of Konkan Railway are b2wn Panvel and Chiplun and b2wn Surathkal & Kankandi respectively. Distance of Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak, Thane, Panvel can’t be calculated in this way because they are outside the jurisdiction of Konkan Railway.Also Kankandi Mangalore Central section is outside the jurisdiction of Konkan Railway. So, this rule is not applicable for this route also.
Don't apply this rule on the distance from Mumbai CST or any station b4 Chiplun in this route because they are outside kokan railway like Mumbai CST 2 Chiplun, Mumbai CST to Ratnagiri, Mumbai CST to Madgaon, Mumbai CSt to Karwar Mumbai CST 2 Surathkal etc. but can apply b2wnChiplun & Surathkal like Chiplun 2 Ratnagiri, Chiplun 2 Madgaon, Chiplun 2 Karwar ,Chiplun 2 Surathkal etc.Don't apply this rule after Surathkal in this list.
Extra distance b2wn Panvel and Chiplun is=(324-273)km= 51 km.
If extra distance is 40 km then real distance is 100 km
If extra distance is 1 km then real distance is 100/40 km
If extra distance is 51 km then real distance is 51(100/40) km =127.5km
So, one end point of Konkan Railway is 127.5 km before Chiplun if 40% more chargeable distance is true and if it is true, this point is (273-127.5)km=145.5 km away from Mumbai CST.I’ve also calculated location of another end point of Konkan Railway which is about 1 km away after Surathkal(from Mumbai direction) if 40% more chargeable distance is true.
Is Kankandi renamed as Mangalore Jn.?
