Start train service or face agitation, says MP

He said passenger service on the sector was much delayed and that railway officials had promised to run the service before May 31.
“If not, I, along with members of the public, will go on a fast,” he added.
He said that he had already discussed the matter with Union Minister for Shipping G.K. Vasan and senior railway officials.
Mr. Ramalingam submitted another petition to Ms. Jayaraj stating that special reservation quota be provided for Rasipuram station for Palani – Chennai Express and Nagarcoil – Bangalore Express.
Ms. Jayaraj told reporters that clearance from the Central Railway Board was being awaited to inaugurate the service. She said that initially, conventional coaches would ply on the sector as Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) was under production.
The timings for running the service have been worked out, she added.
