Less traffic I guess, I too can't digest this fact. But anyways, there is loco change too, so is not much of a problem. Detach from one side and attach at another.
At Ankai station near MMR, two lines converge, one from DD and other from NED. Hence from Ankai station, if a train is redirected via Original DD line then after arriving at MMR the train has head towards Bhusaval and if if the train is redirected via NED line then the train has its head towards Mumbai.
So when HWH PUNE Duronto arrives at MMR its Electric Engine has its head towards Mumbai end. hence the diesel engine can be quickly attached to other end and electric engine is also removed quickly.
