TJ-PKT Rail route is 80 yrs plea of tanjore and pattukotai people bro. where trb under played and implementing un necessary pkt-mq new line... there were so many milestones for the tj-pkt line even frm private bus operators. but after breaking all the milestones now in this budget, this project is going to be implemented from paper to real.
Mq-pkt will be useful for connectivity to north via tvr-mv. tj-pkt wil be useful for west, north west connection frm pkt towards tj. tpj.
Also via nmj-mq it is circuitious and loco reverse is needed.

Instead of going into TJ-PKT by a new line for some 40+KMs, it will be easy to connect KMU & NMJ with just 25 Kms by saving 15 Kms. Already NMJ-MQ line is under operation. Also, MQ-PKT is under way now.So PKT will get direct connectivity to KMU as KMU is big commercial center than TJ even though TJ is district capital.Tomorrow,if KMU-VRI link is made, it will pave a new route from RMM through MNM-KKDI-PKT-KMU-VRI-SA to Bangalore & beyond.

kmu was biggest commercial place in tanjore dist. but now it got changed as so many development activities like new colleges, medical facilities, etc. has been carried out in thanjavur town which in turn gave employment to lot of people hence they announced as a corporation. I'm not coming to say TJ-PKT is important because of those reasons. KMU-NMJ is also very important. but 40+ KM TJ-PKT line helps lot of students, employees and as tanjore is the dist. headquarters for pkt, they have to come to tanjore for everything...
