The Nilgiri Mountain Railway, also known as the Blue Mountain Railway is a 46 km 1000mm [MG] gauge railway connecting Metupalayam [1,069 ft] to Ooty [7,228 ft]. It's Ist section up to Coonoor was completed in the year 1899 by the Nilagiri Railway Company and was extended to Ooty in the year 1903.
