Sir, If your Son's and your ticket are in same PNR, it will be not considered under lower berth quota for Sr. Citizens. You will get only Sr. Citizen concession. I just checked the avaiablity status. There is 1 berth available in 2AC under Sr. Citizen quota from MS to RMM by 16713 on 31st May. If you need immediate confirmation, book your individual ticket NOW in 2AC. Below is the avaiablity status now. Upon successful reservation, cancel only your ticket from the old PNR and let your Son alone travel on that ticket. He still has chances of confirmation. If not atleast you will be able to travel without any hastles.

Then it can't go into WL since the current available status is Avbl 1 in 2 AC in lower birth quota. LB quota will not have a waiting list at all. It will be either AVBL or NOT AVBL. Once the LB quota is completely booked, it will go into GN quota by default. It will not be released even if someone whose ticket is in LB quota cancels it. Which means the LB quota is still not completely taken.
Looks like both the tickets are under same PNR. Lower birth quota is applicable only if travelling individually without any company. It will be good if he sees my comments asap before someone takes the available berth..
