are the AK Rajdhani (12954) and the Flying Ranee (12922).
It all started at Palghar as the Ranee entered the loopline at around 8:13 am to make way for the Rajdhani to overtake it. The overtake happened at around 8:15 and the Ranee left PLG at 8:18.
After a slow run until Borivali, I saw the Raj waiting at Platfrom 6A! The Ranee arrived on the mainline as usual and left just as the Raj began to move. The Ranee had managed to overtake the AK Raj once again. We did MPS till Andheri where there was no sign of the Rajdhani.
At Matunga, the Ranee was put on the extra line and I knew it was done to make way for the Raj - but even after I crossed Lower Parel, there was no sign of the Raj. At Mahalakshmi, just a few hundred meters frm Mumbai Central, I saw the Raj appearing from behind and it overtook the Ranee again! LOL!
The time was 10:08 am and looks like the overtake happened because the Ranee was actually before time. But still, it was beyond me as to why the Ranee was made to wait just a few 100 metres from BCT even though both the trains would eventually end up on different platforms!
