for runaway trains or for train whose brakes have failed... :-)
recently experienced a steeper gradient near bypl...
almost road like gradient...enough to roll down the train if brakes are released...

It is a dead end.Was in use in past but is not in use now.Don't know why was this track constructed.
Towards Dharmapuri. That gradient is to make the route merge :)
When the four laning for NH5 ( HWH MAS) as part of golden quadrilateral, many steep gradients were removed. The gradients were dug deep and then the road was laid. Even IR should consider this.
