I have a suggestion for this website to improve predicting PNR confirmation. I have learnt it the hard way that some trains have a large number of Quota berths and only a few are available under General Quota. Example Yesvantpur Howrah Duronto Express (12246). Its 2AC has only 20 berths available in general quota and 10 in Tatkal quota. Rest 22 berths in 2AC are blocked under various quotas and are released just 4hrs before departure if unused by the relevant quota authority. This means we either cancel our tickets thinking tickets will not confirm or get hold of brokers to get our bookings under some quota. My relatives' tickets remained WL/3 and WL/4 till the end and I got them confirmed through a broker, paying a decent premium. We later realised that 3 seats remained vacant in the bogie under Doctor quota and TTE quota and two 3AC passengers were...

The quota code on the pasted chart was 'DOC' and I could not find any details on this code online so guessed it was Doctor quota, though I could be wrong.
Kindly Gothrogh this for various quota codes.

If a doc availed concesion while booking, he must be available for any medical emergencies. That's y it is mentioned in chart.

as a pilot project, all durontoes have an onboard doc in class 2a...may be that DOC was for the doctor. and that cannot be vacant. its reserved for a doctor allotted by the railways for doctors selected through all india UPSC examinations...
coming to the suggestion, yes, total seats available for booking is already being displayed in pnr forums...also if one needs to know total seats in the train, he may get it by seeing the coach composition...although it would be misleading as upto 33% of seats are blocked by railways and allotted for higher officials/sold to brokers at a handsome premium. the brokers in turn charge us double of that premium.
There were two berths market DOC, and it surprises me that the train was supposed to have 2 doctors and neither came as both seats did not have travelers. This train has 22 out of 52 seats blocked in quota - a whopping 42%, so I don't think 33% is a thumb rule.
I could see that the PNR forum mentions total available seats, which in this case was '>15'. But this is where my suggestion is, the '>15' is not very helpful in predicting WL confirmations. If we can get exact number (20 General +10 Tatkal in this case), prediction will be easier. And then the tough job - getting the quota data, how much is used and how much could...
