The timings of Avantika have been changed. In the past when the train was introduced it used to reach BCT around 11 a.m in the morning. As a result it used to lose out to the Mumbai Rajdhani Express and the August Kranti Rajdhani Express as she used to get overtaken by these two kings of WR.
I got a chance to travel on Avantika on 05.09.1989 (Tuesday) from Ujjain to BCT. On Wednesday early morning, 6th September, 1989, I witnessed Avantika getting overtaken by the August Kranti Rajdhani Express in full blast.

Hmm.. Rajdhanis are outstanding. The beauty is overtaken...........
