off the topic..but needed.
Unable to get a return tiket from jammu to delhi on 18th aug
are to buses available from katra to delhi?
Should I book in advance or they are easily available in case of flexible schedule?

There is no such rule.Its better to change BP for a hasslefree journey.

That'd be a RISK. A risk that if turned wrong will lead you to a loss of your berth in an overnight journey. Because the 3 station thing is an 'observation' and not an 'official rule'. Legally the TTE reserves the right to allocate it to Waitlisted passengers if you don't turn up at your source.
