Safer rakes in 10 days, SER GM briefs Governor about ongoing projects in Jharkhand
Ranchi: South Eastern Railway (SER) general manager A.K. Verma, who called on Governor Syed Ahmed yesterday and briefed him about different ongoing projects in the state, said the all-important Ranchi-Delhi Rajdhani Express would start plying with modern LHB rakes in the next 10 days.

more... added that the frequency of the express would also be increased from three days a week to four days a week within the next fortnight, fulfiling an old demand of the people of Jharkhand.
“The commissioner of the Railway Safety has given the requisite security clearance for running Ranchi-Delhi Rajdhani Express with luxury LHB coaches today itself,” Verma told newsmen after the meeting with the governor.
LHB (Linke Holfmann Busch) coaches are ‘anti-telescopic’ and don’t turn turtle in the event of a derailment or collision. Their outer-bodies are made of stainless steel and the interiors are made of aluminium, which make them lighter. Advanced disc brake and suspension systems make journeys on LHB rakes far more comfortable and safer.
At present, the Rajdhani trains from Ranchi are running with ordinary coaches, which are more than 20-year-old and make rattling sound while travelling.
The SER general manager also said the laying of Lohardaga-Tori line, which will reduce the distance between Ranchi and Delhi by at least two-hour travel time, was on fast track and would be ready for use by December 2014.
“I briefed the honourable governor about the ongoing projects in the state, particularly setting up of Lohardaga-Tori railway tracks. There are 17 bridges that are to be constructed on the line and work for 14 of them are nearly complete. Therefore, the most important part has been done. The remaining three bridges will be set up soon as we are getting good security cover from the state,” said Verma, who was accompanied by Ranchi railway divisional manager Gajanan Mallya, among others.
The work on the 44km railway route from Lohardaga to Tori was launched in 2004. But, as the line passes through Maoist-affected Lohardaga and Latehar districts, construction team had to face numerous difficulties.
