Pune Railway Division & NDRF conducted emergency mock drill at ghorpuri.
To tackle major accident situations effectively, Pune Railway Division and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) jointly conducted a mock drill at the Railways washing and maintenance centre, Ghorpadi on Monday. Involving 150 personnel, it was a first-of-its-kind initiative on this scale for the division. Using various props and aids, including a rail compartment, emergency situations were created. Disaster response personnel demonstrated a rescue of trapped passengers using equipment like gas cutters and a hydraulicc lifter.

Such exercises will be conducted at regular intervals,” he added. The drill went through the procedure laid down for such situations — a siren was sounded to alert personnel of the accident, in response to which an accident relief train and medical relief train rushed to the site with Railways officers and staff.
Then, a control room was established to collect information about victims, casualties, seriously injured and those with minor injuries and medical relief tents were set up.
