Pune Surat AC Double Decker train From Mid 2014

The Central Railway (CR) plans to start an air-conditioned double decker train from Pune to Surat by mid-2014. This is going to be modelled after the Bhopal-Indore air-conditioned double decker trains, which have received a good response. The CR had got repeated requests from commuter groups and passengers

to start a service along the same lines from Maharashtra to Gujarat.
A senior railway official said, “It had been a long-time demand from passengers and commuter groups, but it took time due to the lack of availability of trains. There is a sizeable demand for this route so we know that there will be a good amount of revenue from the service, that is, the train will not run empty,” added the official.
Subhash Gupta, a member of Zonal Railway Users Consultative committee said, “We are happy that the railway will be adding this service, we and other members of the ZRUCC have been suggesting that the passenger see a need for the connectivity.”
The route of the train will be Pune-Panvel-Vasai-Karjat and then further to Gujarat. Although the train will be starting mid-year, officials said that they would open the booking earlier in order to give passengers ample time.

Pune to New Mumbai many bus services r there.
Such bus service are not in use on pune to kalyan/thane. trains r prefered for pune to kalyan/cst. Hence Kalyan is more deserving as it has better access to CST and BCT than Panvel.
If such was the case, about rush in via KYN route... Pune NZM/ADI Duronto also should not run via Kalyan

duronto should run via Panvel as via pnvl is 2 KM lesser than via kyn

The reason that those trains are running via KYN is bcoz Panvel-Kjt is single electrified line and slow compared to KYN-Kjt
Moreover a train from Kalyan to KJT will take 45 min, Panvel to Kjt also 45 min but from Upper kopar to KYN it will take 10-15 min whereas from Upper kopar to pnvl it takes 45 mins to 1 hour

thats why I feel Kalyan is a better halt for Double Decker w.r.t all aspects... accessibilty to Mumbai, is faster and will take lesser time . in such case train could be extended upto Vadodara too.
