in fact, this is one of the earliest n first locomotive in India to have 6280 Hp. when these landed in coast in year 1988, ABB was developing the next generation locomotives called WAP-5/WAG-9 in Ad Tranz, Swiss.

only loco to come with VCD, Microprocessor from foreign nation n also equipped with Thyristor Controls, which doesn't exist in any Indian Locomotive til date, except for its next gen WAG-9.
These locos are heavier than WAG-9's too, max speed on the helm is 120, were actually pinned to upgrade to 160 km/h, but it was too late, and the next gen locos came to our land. :-)
WAG-6A's are 25 years now, exactly of my age.
WAG-6B/C's came around in 1990's.
