As per rules Mumbai Suburban trains are allowed to run upto 3 minutes before their scheduled departure timings at intermediate stations/halts. However, they can depart only at scheduled timings from Starting/Source Station....

AFAIK, Mumbai has a unique controlling system. So, for fast moments, without much delay, as u all know, there are diff tracks for up/down, freight and Local's.
They monitored from a unit where the data comes in live, of all trains entering these section n that helps them to communicate n transmit the data to the section, where they can inform crew what to do and what not do.
After all, in India, its one of the busiest sections, after NDLS n HWH.

When I was Studying I used to Shuttle from Tada to Nellore and in Return I used to Travel in Bus from Nellore to Gudur and the Gudur Gummidipundi passenger. Since evening 16:30 I was waiting on Pf for the Passenger. In General Gudur Staff Station this passenger approx from 15:00 on pf. But there was no sign of this Passenger either on Pf nor on Loop lines. This passenger had Rsa with Tpty-Gdr passenger. I xame to know that Other Train from Tpty side din't arrived due to some Track problem. Due to this late arrival my Passenger was Late. At last it came around 19:00 and started from Gudur after half hour. Around 20:30 it reached Sullurupeta and Halted there for 15 mins. Then an announcement came that this passenger will not halt in any station enroute. That means it's Going to skip 4 regular halts and will...
