The Tatkal Scheme is a ticketing program established by Indian Railways for booking journeys at very short notice.

The Indian Railways introduced it in all forms of reserved classes on almost all trains in India. It was introduced in 1997.

We all know railway ticket as not transferable, to be used by the same person for whom it's booked.
But in genuine cases when change is necessary, Railway rules provide for that necessity and allow the same to be offline.

Before installing Automatic Point System was installed, hundreds of guards lost their hands and fingers trying to fix it manually. Every time a train got delayed and we complained, an Indian Railways employee probably lost his limbs for us.

First rail tunnel in india is Parsik tunnel in Thane, Maharashtra, India. This tunnel lies on Mumbai-Chennai mainline. This reduced the distance between Thane and Diva to 7 km from formal 9.6 km.
